Last time I went to the movies was to see The dark knight. I didn't think I would ever see another movie that rivaled it, nor 10,000 BC. Tonight I went to see Australia, and my breath was taken away!
Hugh Jackman was the perfect pick for the real Auzzie man! *drools* and Nicole Kidman was a very good choice as well! But my favorite character was the little boy who played Nullah, the very soul of the movie.
Seeing that movie just made my night. It was so good, and is definitely up there in my top fave movies!

I want to see this movie so bad. Not just to drool over Hugh Jackman either. ;)
Would you say it's very accurate to you guys history Lyra?
Hmmm, well I didn't take much notice about the historical events, but I know it was very accurate in the way of the Aboriginals.
These days the Aboriginals are very much a part of our own culture, and (especially in the Catholic schools) we are taught about them and the Dreaming and the way they live. In that regard it was very very good. Its really an eye opener.
It also shows what it is like for the country men, and the way would live droving the cattle, and how both women and Aboriginal were treated. It brings into play the stolen generation and the half cast children, which is also a very big part of our history, as the Government once had the plan to wipe the Aboriginals out by breeding them out. Children born to an Aboriginal Mother, and White Father (Or Vice versa, but it was usually this way around) were called half casts, and then stolen from their Mothers and put into camps that tried to teach them how to forget their strong connection to the lands, and the dreaming, and live in white society.
I loved the movie so much. Especially with the drove where they are chasing the cattle along the desert plains. It really makes your heart beat just that little faster. I would love to go on a drove, I think it would be just so fantastic. Riding horseback, working with the men around you to chase the cattle, working as such a close knit team you don't allow the cattle to escape, sleeping under the stars but night. It would be so fantastic!
I'm not actually sure about the war. It could be accurate, but I wasn't quite sure. But the rest of it, like all the stuff involving the Aboriginal people (which most of the movie surrounds, like the Aboriginal culture, which is a very very interesting culture, and it makes a whole lot of sense, especially when it comes to the dreaming and their connection to the land. It also tells about how they were treated by white man.)
Like I said, not sure about the war part of it, but it was so fantastic. I thought they really really did a good job. I also really loved the setting, all the scenery. The big red rocks of outback Australia. Simply breathtaking and superb.
Anyways, I'm getting carried away and beginning to babble and pretty much repeat everything.
Hope that was useful, sorry I couldn't give you more info on the war. ^^
